Privacy Statement

Net Worth Jar is operated by DealCircles LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This statement explains what data the Service collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

By default, the financial information you enter — account balances, labels, income, savings strategy, and so on — is saved only in your web browser's local storage, under keys scoped to this site. It is never transmitted to us, to any server we operate, or to any third party, unless you turn on the optional “Save my data” feature described in Section 3. Without that, we have no ability to view, back up, or recover this data — if you clear your browser's site data, switch browsers, or switch devices, that data is gone unless you've saved it elsewhere yourself (for example, via an Export feature).

Net Worth Jar still does not connect to your bank, brokerage, or any other financial institution on your behalf. We do not use account-aggregation services (like Plaid) and never ask for your banking credentials — that has not changed. What has changed is that an account is now optional: if you click “Save my data,” here is exactly what happens.

Signing in. We use a third-party identity provider to let you sign in with a Google account or a one-time code sent to your email. That provider verifies your email to confirm it's you, but we never receive or store your email address ourselves — internally, your account is identified only by an anonymous ID assigned during sign-in, not by your email. We do not receive or store any password either; Google or our identity provider handles that step directly.

Your passphrase and encryption. Saving your data for the first time asks you to choose a passphrase, separate from your email sign-in. Your browser uses it to encrypt your financial data before sending anything to our server; we only ever store the resulting ciphertext, which cannot be decrypted without your passphrase. We do not receive, store, or have any way to recover your passphrase — if you forget it, we cannot recover that saved backup for you, though your account and the ability to sign back in are unaffected, and you can start a new backup at any time.

What this feature is (and isn't) for. Today, this is intended as a backup: it lets you restore your data on the same device after your browser's storage is cleared. It is not yet a way to see the same data live across multiple devices — that is a possible future feature, and if we build it, this statement will be updated first.

If you never use “Save my data,” Net Worth Jar sets no cookies — your theme preference (light/dark) is stored in your browser's local storage, not a cookie, same as before. If you do sign in, we set a session cookie so you stay signed in between visits, and a brief, short-lived cookie during the sign-in process itself to protect against cross-site request forgery. Neither is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

We use a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service to understand aggregate traffic and page performance — things like page views, load times, and approximate country of origin. It does not use persistent identifiers, device fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking, and we do not receive any individually identifying information through it.

As with essentially any website, the infrastructure that hosts and delivers the Service processes standard connection information (such as IP address) as part of serving pages to you. We do not separately log or store this information ourselves. If you use “Save my data,” your anonymous account identifier and encrypted backup are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure, which we use to run the Service's optional saving feature.

Net Worth Jar does not currently run advertising and does not include any third-party advertising or tracking scripts. If that changes in the future, this statement will be updated first.

If you've never used “Save my data,” there is nothing on our end to delete — your data has only ever existed in your browser, and your browser's own site-data settings (or the “Reset demo data” control) are how you clear it. If you have signed in and saved a backup, you can request deletion of your account and its encrypted backup at any time by contacting us using the details in Section 11.

This statement was substantially rewritten on September 19, 2026 to describe the optional sign-in and save feature covered in Section 3, ahead of that feature's release — consistent with our practice of updating this page before a data-handling change ships, not after. We may revise this statement again at other times, at our discretion, by posting an updated version with a new “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised statement.

The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18. If you use the optional “Save my data” feature, we ask that you be at least 18 to create an account.
